Virginia Inland Port recommendations

The VIP facility contains 161 acres. Containerized cargoes are balanced between international and domestic. VIP's 9,500 feet of rail tracks are directly connected to the Norfolk Southern main line and the facility is in close proximity to Interstates 66 and 81.

These projects are recommended for the VIP in the 2010 Plan:

  1. Development of an economic development center, including administration and warehouse facilities, to take advantage of existing VIP capabilities and attract cargo-industry opportunities.
  2. Coordination with Washington Dulles International Airport to enhance opportunities in the Front Royal corridor.

The VIP plan development recommendations total $7.4 million.
